The Best GEO Tools for Ecommerce Product Catalogs: Tracking and Optimizing AI Visibility by SKU

Shoppers ask AI assistants for products, not brands. For a store with hundreds or thousands of SKUs, the useful question is which products get named — and what to change on the ones that don't.

The short version
  • Brand-level trackers tell you whether you appear. Catalog-level tools tell you which products appear and why.
  • Tools that work at product level today: Sayrank, Peec AI (Shopping), Profound (Shopping, Enterprise), Alhena, and newer specialists such as Glara and Emberos.
  • Only a few of them change product content; most recommend.

For a store, AI visibility is decided product by product. An assistant answering “a waterproof hiking boot that runs wide” picks specific models based on the facts it finds on product pages, retailer listings and reviews. A brand can be well known and still lose that question because its product page never states the width fit. Catalog-level GEO tools are built to find and fix those gaps at scale.

Three jobs a catalog GEO tool can do

  1. Measure by product — which SKUs are named, for which questions, in which position, and whether the assistant states the right price and attributes.
  2. Diagnose the page — whether the product page can be crawled, renders without JavaScript, carries Product markup, and states the facts shoppers ask about.
  3. Change the content — draft better product facts and descriptions, with human approval, and push them back to the catalog.

What to check before you buy

  • How the catalog gets in. Shopify feed, Google Merchant Center feed or CSV. Make sure your platform is supported — many tools assume Shopify.
  • Which engines are measured at product level. Some product features cover only ChatGPT Shopping.
  • Whether changes need approval. Product facts carry legal weight (materials, claims, ingredients). Automatic publishing without review is a risk.
  • How changes return to the store. A CSV in your platform's import format, or a connector that writes after approval.

Where to start

Do not try to fix the whole catalog at once. Pick the 20–50 products that should win your most valuable shopper questions, measure them for a few weeks, fix the facts and access issues on their pages, and measure again. The products that move tell you which changes to roll out across the rest of the catalog.

Disclosure. Sayrank is our product. Other tools are described from their public pages and announcements; corrections are welcome.

Frequently asked questions

What is GEO?

Generative engine optimization: improving how often and how accurately AI assistants such as ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude and Perplexity mention and recommend your brand and products. For ecommerce it overlaps heavily with product data quality.

What does SKU-level AI visibility mean?

Measuring visibility per product rather than per brand: which products assistants name for which questions, in what position, and whether they describe the product correctly, including price.

Can a tool rewrite thousands of product pages automatically?

Tools can draft changes at scale, but product facts must be correct. The safest workflow is drafts generated from your catalog data, reviewed and approved by your team, then exported or written back to the store.
